Modular type from Mia Rockel

Another fabulous thesis on modular type comes from Mia Rockel. ‘No hidden Message’ holds some great examples written in Processing and explains very well why file formats like Postscript limit the expression of typedesign by reducing letterforms to an outline shape. A really interesting read on the future of writing and why we should re-think our system of static letters.

“Transitions of type happened before and have to be seen as an important part of typography. Transitions come with new technologies and within this context digital typography means the latest transition of type.”
