Again, we have been invited to contribute to the TYPO BERLIN 2015, which is the biggest and most relevant conference for typography and design taking place in Berlin. The claim of the “International Design Talks” happened this year to the topic “Characters” from 21–23 May 2015 at Haus der Kulturen der Welt.

For this year, we initiated a colaborative workshop together with our friends of Wear It Berlin, who is also head of Trafopop, (and whose head behind is our formerly known letterhead Rainer Renaissance aka Thomas Gnahm;)).

This is what we offered:
_____________________________________________________________________
Type & Tech – Make your own glowing character bags.
Show us your inner letter and see who you are!

Get in touch with your inner uppercase and build your own light-up letter bag. Handmade with only the very best letters to suit any taste. From bold to ultra-condensed, grotesque or serifs, there’s a letter of choice for every typeface type. Let there be light and letters.

In this workshop, typography meets technology: Letter Are My Friends and the Wear It Festival Berlin join forces to light up your bags.

Last year, Letters Are My Friends spoke about type & tech at TYPO and threw the opening night party in its concept store. Trafo Pop’s light painting stick was in action, amazing visitors in the Foyer. This year the Letter Friends are working with the Trafo poppers to light up your bags!

We did some intensive preparation and worksessions. This blinking N above was the first prototype done by Bärbel Bold, and the other designs were done by Ingo Italic and Ricardo Seixa Fonseca from Wear It Berlin.

Thanks to Typo Berlin, who supported us with material and one of our favourite berlin based electronic supplier Tinkersoup, we could start in time testing our idea.

We also did silkscreening on a german celebration day. Thanks to our friends of SDW Neukölln, Ingo Italic, Shifty Capzlock and Bärbel Bold spend a cosy day within colors and some serious crafting.
